I have a quick question, I know it is supposed to take 6-8 weeks from your initial application until you receive the NTS.  My question, I sent my application on Thursday (7/10/08) and they already cashed the check as of Monday (07/14/08)...this leads me to believe that they will send me my NTS a lot sooner then the 6-8 weeks or is this standard for them?  I didn't think they would have even received my application in 4 days (2 business), let alone cash the check that quickly.  Anyone else have a similar experience and can shed some insight?

My experience was that the check was cashed much sooner than the NTS was sent.  There didn't seem to be a correlation between the check cashing and the NTS.  Hope this helps.

When you said you paid for the application, do you mean that you already paid NTS fee for one section (AUD, FAR, BEC, REG) ? Or are you referring to the initial application (where you pay somewhere around $100) that is required to process your account?

If you mean the NTS, then it would only take about 4-7 days for them to send you your paperwork.

If you mean the initial application (so they can verify that you are a bona fide graduate, etc...) then that takes 6-8 weeks. Of course, they do cash your check right away.

I paid for the initial app fee ($140) and for two sections (BEC/REG) which brought my total to $475-ish, can't recall exact amount off top of my head.  I assumed you paid for the sections you intended to take in the next 6 months with your initial application fee (in Ohio) so I'm hoping that was the correct thing to do.  After they verify I am eligible to take the exam, then they send me my NTS, correct?  Then I can just schedule as I already have paid my fees associated with the two exams I intend to take in the coming months...hope I didn't screw that up :/

You are correct regarding the sequence. They may process applications faster in Ohio. I am from California and it took about 4-6 weeks for them just to set me up in the system (verification of all my school credits and what not). I paid for my NTS after receiving the go-ahead from them to schedule and that only took about a week to process.
