My upper-level accounting GPA was below 3.0. My overall was just under 3.0 at four-year university and 3.6 at community college. I passed three exams on the first attempt. I had to retake one exam but easily passed (I consider 88 easily passing; opinions may differ).
College GPAs are hard to compare. Someone may have went to a 'easier' school. Or maybe they did not have to work. I think I went to a tough school. I also had two jobs and a mortgage. I graduated in under 4 years.
I studied the most for Reg (maybe 100 hours). FAR was second most (85 hours). AUD was third (75 hours). BEC was the least amount (70 hours). These are estimates. It may have been slightly more or less.
I probably studied too much because I was not preparing for the correct type of exam. By that I mean I was probably preparing for an objective essay test and not a multiple choice test. You need to focus your preparation on answering multiple choice questions. The actual exam asks you to find the 'most correct' or 'best' answer.
I used CPA Excel and Gleim for all parts. I also used Wiley for Reg. Most people can pass with any study material available. Most have the same or similar questions. You just have to put in the time and be efficient. Commit to a plan and hit the books. The 18-month window closes pretty fast.
Good luck!
