Hey everyone,

I got a couple of questions.

I'm in Canada and I'm planning to enroll in the Becker program but I want to know how well Becker accommodates students who don't have accounting degrees and have little to no accounting courses taken.

would it be a good idea to take the Becker program?

I don't mind starting fresh, from the ground up but I don't know if Becker's program is for people like me.

Also, I went to a Becker seminar a few days ago and their rep said that if I get the CPA certificate, it can be transferred from state-to-state for a fee so you can work in any state you want but the only restriction is you can't do auditing anywhere else except in the state where you got your certificate.  is there a way to do auditing in a state that is not your "home state?"

Thanks.

I think Becker would probably be fine.  I had a finance degree, but had to take extra accounting courses to meet the state board requirements.  You will definitely be frustrated at times by some of the concepts, but they do a pretty good job of teaching.

I think you have to be certified in each state where you want to do audit work.  Most of them will give reciprocity for out of state CPA's so your "home" state will just have to send them proof of your CPA to go along with your application.
