I'm preparing Florida CPA exams for months now (havn't appiled for the exam though). I just saw a new requirement added to the licensure policy today on

http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/cpa/licensure.html

indicating that to obtain a new FL license, I need to apply for the license WTHIN one year of receiving the licensure package otherwise all my grades will expire and I have to re-take the exam! To appy the license, I need one year of working experience which I do NOT have rightnow.

So this bad news now leaves me couple of workarounds:

1. take other state's exam, like GA.... this option will delay my progress by at least two months... (re-apply, transcript re-sent, etc, etc,)

2. go ahead with FL's exam but have to leave one section untaken until I find a job (assuming the 18-month window works)

3. Any.... other options??

Thanks!

Seems to me that I saw someone else say you had to put the application in within the year, but did not have to have the experience completed when applying

However, the license would not be granted until after the experience was completed

Thanks Nan. I saw you got the initial application approval in 2008 so you could use the old rule:)

I contacted with the board and they told me that the Board is in the process of changing that rule from 1 year to 36 months or longer. They are meeting this Friday to finalized.

oh please let me know what happens...

I am in a similar position, but I don't know the exact rules/requirements. I sat first section in FL in july, and will sit the fourth section in Nov. I don't have the one year of work experience...???

Any advice?

I''m in the same predicament. (See my signature). I'm concerned that FL didn't make any changes because there is no update on the website.  Quite frankly, I'm disturbed that a Board of 9 people could be so limited in forward planning (to think that Someone could take their last paper on March 31st and then have a job by April 1) but I guess I can't control that.
