Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on the one year work experience required by Florida

Is there a period of time in which I have to get the one year of work experience once I pass all sections of exam?

Is there anything else I should know or pay attention to?

I would appreciate any help :)

Last time I heard, there was supposed to be a legislative session this past July to extend the time to get the work experience requirement in three years before your scores expire instead of one year. I have not heard anything about it lately. You have one year from the time you finish your exam to apply for licensing.

You should just call the FICPA because DBPR isn't going to be much help to you.

The problem has been resolved.  I contacted the Director of the Division of Certified Public Accounting in FL and this was her response.  Now I can take Auditing in Nov and be done!

"Rule 61H1-28.0052 F.A.C. was amended, with an effective date of August 20, 2009.  Applicants for original licensure now have 36 months to apply for licensure after passing all sections of the CPA examination."

I also asked about the possibility of submitting a licensure package without the work experience and avoiding having grades expire.

"With regards to your question regarding submission of licensure package, Florida statutes require that applications are approved or denied within 90 days.  Therefore we would not be able to hold the application open indefinitely.  However, the Board of Accountancy will allow an applicant an additional six months to meet requirements upon receipt of a signed waiver.
Thank you"

Thanks for the info. I looked for the rule change but couldn't find it.
