I just finished the bachelors in accounting, but i cant even get an interview around here for a job. Looks like you can't get in a cpa firm unless your married to the owners daughter!! And the jobs i do see always want 3-5 years experiance.

I thought about taking the cpa exam anyway, but will it "expire" if i dont find a job,, and have to retake it? I would like to take it while im still fresh out of school.

I live in mississippi.

When you pass your test, I don't think it will be expire if you can't find a job. I would recommend go ahead to study and take the exam asap. There alway a way of extending your license but need to check with your state

In most states your scores WILL expire if you don't fulfill the work requirement withing a certain time period. In Florida it was 1 year, but recently changed to 3 years.

Therefore in Florida if you do not apply for your license within 3 years of passing your final exam, you will essentially have to retake the exam. The catch is you can't apply (or have it approved) if you do not meet the work requirement.

There are a lot of people in your shoes, that is why a lot of states (including Florida) have extended the period you have to apply for your license. I'm not sure about the exact law in MS, but you do not have to apply to sit in MS just because you live there.

I am in a similar situation. I graduated in 2003 with a bachelors degree in accounting and 123 credits. After graduation, I started to work in private accounting. This year, I took the cpa tests and passed them all. I applied in New York state for the test. However, beggining in august of 2009 and unaware to me, they changed the requirement for license to 150 hour rule. So now, unfortunately, I need to obtain not only the working experience for the license but also 30 more credits in college. Does anyone know how long the exam results are good for in NY before they expire?

FAR- 81 passed
AUD-90 passed
BEC-78 passed
REG-81 passed
