Hi,

I just found out I failed FAR with 70 (previous score of 61 in October last year).  This really stinks, because, first I loose the AUD paper I passed last May and second, I have to psych myself up for a REG test tomorrow morning.

I will start studying again in mid-January 2010 to take the test at the end of Feb 2010 and will like to know if there is anyone in the Northern CA's Eastbay/SF who can meet once a week to study.

Thanks,

thistime

Hi,

I gave FAR the second time and failed with a 65 (previous
score of 64). I'm probably lacking in the timing, as i had
to hurry up with the sims. I prepared from Becker material
and practiced questions from the Wiley software. Please
suggest a strategy or some changes in approach which could
help in improving the timing and passing the exam.

Look back and compare your studying habits. What did you do the second time around that you did not do the first time. I am retaking Reg in Jan 2010 and one of the things I am changing is to put in 210%. I underestimated the exam, I put in a lot of study time the first three weeks and then I became a slacker. When I got my report I was stronger in the areas that I had invested more time in. Read other people's studying habits and try to figure out what works for you. I have Becker but this time around I am also supplementing with the yaeger cram and wiley questions. I read the Wiley book, watch Becker lectures, read the Becker chapter and then do questions. I like the Wiley examples and they help reinforce things. I can honestly say I have a better understanding of the material and the Yeager cram is just the icing on the cake. I like how Phil goes over questions. If I fail after doing all this then I dont know. Do as many MCQs as you can but also know the material....

Guys, here is what I did to pass the exams,

I got a page size calender and did a schedule of what I
want to complete at the end of each day. My aim was to
write the exam on the completion of 250 - 300 hours. This
is what Becker recommended.
I work 8-5pm and my boss allow me unlimited access
the conference room to study so I took her up on it. At
5pm i would get a cup of coffee and after washing my face
and using the bathroom, I headed for the conference room
determine to study for 3 hours. I did that from Monday -
Friday.
On Saturdays and Sundays, I would go to the office as if
it was a work day and study from 8-5pm. After which i
would complement myself saying hey, you got out early
today.
Studying at the office help me to focus because even
though it took me 1-1.5 hours to get there on the
weekends I was away from home, away from my friends and
my bed. Whenever I study at home and I feel as if I am
doing well I would take a break and never to return to my
books for the day.
Come on guys, you can do this. YOU WANT SUCCESS RIGHT?
THEN YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT BECAUSE SUCCESS DEMANDS HARD
WORK!! Whenever I was tired, I would put my head on the
conference table and take a 5-10 minutes power nap. Look
up power nap and you will see that it is equal to 4 hours
sleep.
Last year I spend 4th July, thanksgiving and Christmas
day at the office studying for the exams. Are you prepare
to make such sacrifice? Which would you prefer, the
opportunity to enjoy the holidays to celebrate or many
other opportunity to retake the exams.
Friends it's all about sacrifice and how bad you want to
pass the exams...if you fail again, tell yourself that
you don't want it bad enough and that's why you fail.

Good luck
