Hi there,
I had a question about sitting for the exam; I've read the do's and don'ts of the testing centers and what you can and can't bring with you but I was wondering about the actual computer-based tests. Can you skip questions and come back to them later? I usually like to go through the ones that I'm confident in and then go back to the other questions where I can take my time to answer.
From all the research that I have done and forums that I have read; I haven't heard anything about the actually tests themselves.

Yes you can, as long as it is within the same testlet. Once you have exited a teslet, you can't go back.

Thanks for the response. I have test anxiety as it is so it's a big relief that I can move around like that. I know, why would someone with testing anxiety sit for the CPA...good question. I'm still asking myself "what was I thinking." haha.
btw, I see you did very well on FAR, I'm undecided whether I should do FAR or REG for my next exam. How long did you study for it?

Thanks :) I can relate to your anxiety. I had multiple feelings & thoughts before i went in to take my 1st exam!! This test is meant to be horrifying ;)
Which one are you going to schedule now btw? I would suggest that you take FAR next. It has the largest volume of material to study & once you are done with it you'll really feel good. Also it helps to prepare for AUD & even REG to an extent. As i am studying for REG now, i feel i can understand certain concepts better since those were covered in FAR.
I studied FAR for about 2.5 months. Frankly speaking, i used to put in just 2-3 hrs a day in the first 1-1.5 months but later on picked up & put in about 5-6 hrs a day during the last month. Weekends used to be terrible for me & i felt guilty most of the times. I don't think my studying habits can be an inspiration for anyone ;-) But yeah, overall i must have put in about 250 hrs, i think! And i did feel comfortable about most of the topics on FAR as i studied. I did Becker & used cpareviewforfree website.
I am just half way thru in REG & have my exam scheduled early Feb. This reminds me that i haven't done much studying during these holidays. Too bad :( I need motivation!! Happy new year & wish you loads of luck :-)

I think I will take FAR next, now that I have a pretty good idea of my own study patterns (weaknesses/strengths)and what time frame I will need to sit for the exam. My proposed plan is to be able to test the first month following the next black out period. Ex. I test in January for BEC, then I will study for FAR from Feb/Mar, test FAR in Apr. Study for REG May/June, test in July, and finally study for AUD Aug/Sept and test in Oct. I figured I'd give myself a birthday present (Oct) by finishing all my test requirements. As you can see, I leave myself no room to fail any of my tests. That would screw up my B-day gift to myself.
Thanks too for the reference site. I am always looking for more material to cross-reference to make sure that I truly do understand everything.
Well, cpa0123, it is a pleasure chatting with you. I wish you all the luck on your future tests. Stay motivated. Just think, you won't only have your logon name cpa0123, but in 2010 you will "officially" have CPA following your name too. What a site that will be. Stay motivated, stay focused!
