The Florida Board of Accountancy received my application to sit for the CPA exam on October 26, 2009.  On December 2, the reviewer told me he was working on applications dated September 18.  Today (1/4/10), he told me he was working on applications dated September 30!  He told me it would be over 4 weeks before he got to mine!  What can I do?  I am currently studying with Becker on a schedule that will have me sitting for FAR in the middle of February.  This could push me into April!  Very frustrated.

Well, I sent a not so nice email (VERY NASTY, actually) to the Director of the Department when they took too long to process my application.  Veloria.Kelly@dbpr.state.fl.us

I also emailed the Supervisor of Exams for the State of FL (who was the one who actually reviewed my application).  She responded the next day after my nasty email.  If I find it, I will give it to you. 

They received mine on 11/10. I was told yesterday that there are 150 applications in front of mine and only one person reviews them, so it will take 2 more months. I am also frustrated because I have the CD ROM Becker course and need to start taking these ASAP. I was also told  in mid December that they were working on applications from late September and that it might take 40-60 days total. So I called after 55 days and was told they are still working on applications from the end of September.

This is ridiculous! I should have applied in another state...lol.

rumboj - please do send that email info if you find it.  I also sent an email and left a phone message for Veloria with no reply on either.

flfuturecpa - we are in the same boat and I received the same info.  It is so frustrating to work hard and do everything you can, and then be held up by this.

For some reason, I'm remembering the name as Vy Hayes.  The email address would be the same format as Veloria's.  I would email both of them DAILY with progressively nastier emails.  Eventually, they won't be able to ignore them (since it's very unprofessional to do so).  It's unfortunate that this is what candidates have to resort to.
