I am about to apply to take the CPA exam but my record worries me. Unfortunately I was involved in an incident at a school football game. at a tailgate, someone under the age of 21 took one of my beers out of my cooler. He was busted, and because it was my beer out of my cooler (I am older than 21) I was also held accountable. I was given a written arrest for providing alcohol to a minor.  I went to court, had adjudication withheld, did a lot of community service and paid a lot in fines, and then went on my way. On the application for the CPA exam it asks if you were ever charged with anything, even if you were with held adjudication. Is this going to keep me from becoming a CPA?

No, this will not prevent you from becoming a CPA. Many people have worst records than that and become certified. As long as it is not accounting / fraud related you will be fine. Plus, when you complete the "adjudicated probation" you are found not guilty.

Yes, make sure you disclose everything. You will be fine.

Did the guy tell the cops he got the beer from YOUR cooler? What a turd! I would have made the cops arrest him for theft if I was going to go down...
