I'm taking accounting theory in grad school and need a current accounting theory topic:

, write a research paper in APA format that logically and critically analyzes and synthesizes all aspects of your theory topic.  Be sure to include the following core components concerning your theory topic:

1. Historical development of theory
2. Current GAAP
3. Suggested changes or problem areas revealed in the debate arena
4. Analyze 2 & 3 above in relation to the Conceptual Framework
5. Suggest appropriate courses of action 

Make sure that your topic is sufficiently narrow to allow you to thoroughly research and analyze the topic given the length considerations of the research paper.

Anyone have any good ideas?

I did my thesis on SOX too (75 pages).  I remember friends complaining about having to write a paper that was 2-5 pages.  I'd just laugh when thinking back about the monster I had to write.
