After having studied hard since last September, I finally finished my tax and auditing courses at Raritan Valley Community College. I sent my transcript to CED to evaluate for Massachusetts CPA. I just received their email saying "The two courses that you have completed at Raritan Valley Community College ( Tax Accouting I and Auditing) cannot be considered for the course requirements in Accounting because according to the CPA rules "Assocaite degree/community college courses will be accepted only if transferred into a four-year bachelor's degree program"

How I can transfer the two courses into a four-year bachelor's degree? Anybody with the same experience? What should I do now?

Your help is much appreciated!!!

Yeah, Texas has strict rules on Accounting credits from community colleges.  In Texas, there are only 4 community colleges in the entire state that are recognized by the state board to offer accounting credits for the CPA exam.

Looks like your only choice is to take 2 more classes at a university as a non-degree seeking student.  You could try online classes if a local university offers them.  Also, I looked into University of Phoenix because of the convenience of online classes and I think their accounting credits count towards the CPA because they're an accredited university (AASCB or something??).  You should definitely call your state board and ask about university of Phoenix before enrolling.

Thanks for Bobthecpa's response!

The reason why I took the course from Raritan Valley is somebody in this forum took couses from this school, and it seems the courses were accepted. Anybody know if the courses are accepted by other states? E.g. Dalaware? I have spent money and more than 7 months to finish them. I don't want to retake them.

Your inputs are much appreciated!

Look into transferring into a university. Pay an application fee, but don't take any classes. You should be able to request transcripts with the credits you've transferred in. Hopefully. That's the easiest way I can see you making those courses eligible. But then again, nothing is easy.

Hmm, sounds sketchy.  I'm pretty sure you'll need to also earn a degree from the 4-year university for that to work or at the very least take 1 class there in order for you to receive transcripts.  I doubt they would even issue you any transcripts for transferring in credits without ever taking a class there.  Another thing with transferring credits is that universities don't always accept every course.

There is no other way around it unless you find a state that will accept community college credits.  Try the NASBA website for state reqs.  I remember finding a link for a subscription service to NASBA-CPA-Requirements-by-State-Database-Search, but didn't really look into because I didn't need it besides the fact that  I was immediately turned off by the ridiculous subscription fees.
