Hi, I have been posting on this forum for a while but mostly in the career section. I am a junior at UIUC and I am going to sit for the NY State CPA. NY State candidates can sit for the CPA when they have 120 hrs and 33 Accounting hours which I'll have. I'll graduate with my bachelors in December 2011 and I'll have 150 credit hours. I am interning busy season with EY january - march 2012. Fall 2011 will be my last semester at school. Hopefully I can do well in the internship and ask for a Jan 2013 FT start date. Does this plan make sense?
Study starting first week of August
Take FAR/AUD in the Oct/Nov 2011 window
January - March 2012 intern
Start studying late march
Take BEC/REG April/May 2012 window or retake FAR/AUD if I don't pass.
As a side note, I have a 3.4 GPA but I am DEFINITELY NOT SMART. I am willing to work hard though. I will probably buy becker review and ask EY to reimburse if I hopefully get the FT. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
