Hi All,
I am a CA (All India Ranker in all three levels)from
India and I would like to work in USA as a CPA. But I
have a few question regarding work eligibility and VISA
status, kindly suggest -
1. I am planning to get married in USA but my husband has
a H1B visa which will give me a DEPENDENT STATUS which
DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO WORK IN USA. So if I appear for the
CPA exam and clear it will my VISA STATUS change to
F1(student visa) allowing me to be employed in the US ?
2. If I do not enter USA as a DEPENDENT and simply appear
for the CPA exam, does it make me eligible to work in the
US even though I am an indian citizen ? Since only
H1B/F1/J1 visa holders are allowed to be employed in USA,
I am really confused.
Please suggest.

Hi,
First of all I would like to say, Congratulations for ur CA rank!
Even I am from India and on H4 visa in USA. After trying for one year to get jobs and convert from H4 to H1 I finally decided to take up studying in USA.
What better than CPA for a CS from India. Studying for CPA would not guarantee you a job in USA and nor does you visa get converted to F1. Its a home based study not through any university.
The chances of getting employed after doing CPA increase tremendously and you can get even jobs in big 4 ( thats what i have heard).
You can even reach me at sonal.agarwal.24@gmail.com if you have further queries and since we are sailing in the same boat!
Good luck with studies and congratulations for your marriage!

Hi ca.from.india how are you? nd congrats for ur ca rank...
im a ca too so i know its hardwork... nd i agree with
sonalj CPA puts you in a better position for job search.
But dont know a lot of people are telling me that sponsorship for H1 is hard to get... so it all just
depends... so im just giving my papers and gonna see what
happens...
Do keep in touch and congratulations for your marriage.
Nd also dont know if you knew get ur books too.. as i was
under the impression that the AICPa will issue books but it
doesnt... so you have to buy your own books to study...
