Hi All,
I'm in the process of recreating my resume to either work in a hedge fund or another private financial firm. My resume looks decent but my previous company was a Madison Ave. firm - not an accountant in an advertising firm, but as an actual Advertising Planner. I have about 5 years total experience so my resume is as follows:
Private Firm (past 2.5 years ago-now) Advertising (1 year) Big 4 (1 year) Private Firm (1 year) College
My question is, does it make any sense to leave the Advertising position in since its generally non-accounting/financial related? I had duties that were somewhat finance related so I could tune my resume to those engagements. Plus, it might bring up a topic to speak about in the interview and I can let my personality shine about my exciting experiences there.
On the flip side, if I take it out in order to be more cohesive, there will be a one year gap and HR will be sure to ask questions. Please let me know your thoughts as I've received mixed messages thus far. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
