I've seen threads with 40-plus-year-old people complaining about age discrimination in starting an accounting career and posts that deem a 26-year-old starting auditor as ancient.  Should late-20s people consider age an issue for big four recruiting?

That's pretty depressing if that is true. I feel old enough as it is. Now I'm ancient...

Please don't take my post as authoritative or anything, Al Bundy.  It's second- and third-hand at best.  The only person with established credibility from whom I've heard about still relatively young ages being an issue with the Big 4 is a professor who was trying to talk me and a 30-year-old classmate into instead concentrating in internal audit.

I'm 28 and just starting at a Big 4... and I'm not the youngest in the group of new hires.

If you're a good candidate, you're a good candidate, I don't think it will affect your chances of getting hired.

Congrats on your new job! Did you get recruited through school?
