Ok, so I got an email through the career center about one of the big 4's
hiring for a summer intern in tax. I forgot about it, then a few days
before the deadline I had an "oh sh***" moment and decided to send my
resume. I got an invite to interview (but didn't really know what the
internship was about), and only a few days before my 1st
round interview did I realize that tax consulting actually meant
accounting! Anyway, I did some research and got quite excited at the
prospect of working at such a prestigious firm, and the doors it could
open.
I don't have any previous experience in accounting, and my major was in
the humanities. However, I'm pursuing a MA degree at an ivy league
school that this particular big 4 apparently thinks is valuable (otherwise,
why would they recruit us). And no, it is not an MBA.
Here is my question: (Assuming I make it past 2nd round, and then get a
job offer down the road...) With no accounting experience, but having a
masters degree, would that mean I enter at the bottom of the ladder in
terms of pay, $50k +/-, or would I be more like $60k-$65k? What would
be my title ? Btw, this is for NYC.
Would an internship at a big 4 look good for MBA applications? Could you
leverage big 4 experience into breaking into management consulting at
the same firm?
