I am going to be interning at KPMG for the winter in Chicago; is there generally a lot (or any) driving around to clients for Big 4 Audit Interns?

I suppose it depends on the firm and city, but I know for my internship (different firm and city), they sent out an email to all interns asking them if they had a car a month or two prior to the internship. If you don't have a car, they will make sure to keep you on clients that are within the city and accessible by public transportation.

However, when you start full-time, you are required to travel to any client regardless of its accessibility. Almost everyone I know owns a car, although some people that are on huge financial services clients that make up 90% of their schedule and are within the city just rent a car or use Zipcar if they are put on a job outside the city.

They asked if I own a car. I'm assuming that they'll take that into account for
assignments.

Do they reimburse you for gas, miles and/or travel? Commuting to a client?

More than just the city and the company, the department or the function under which you will be doing internship is crucial for you to know about whether you would need a car. My seniors had to get a car and they would rent a car and did contribute among themselves. Plus you get to use the car for where ever you want to go.
