i used to work for one of the big 4, left to go to grad school and now one of my old partners highly recommended me for an experienced hire position in a different office than the one i worked at.

i was contacted by the recruiter, told that the office in question was really enthusiastic about me, and wanted me to come down for an interview. i asked if we could wait a couple weeks till after busy season was over, and she said that was totally fine and that she was going to work on an office interview for the day after the tax deadline.

last wednesday she emailed and said that day wasnt good for the team, and would a couple days later work for me? i immediately responded that of course that would work, or even the following week any time.

i have not heard back from her since then! its been a whole week. i even followed up on monday with a nice email saying that i'd like to firm up my schedule for the week of busy season and was she still thinking day X for an office interview... and nothing... no response....

i've been trying to go through in my head what could be happening.. the partners changed their mind and decided they could live without another senior? they had an in-house transfer to the position?

i'm so confused! thoughts? has anybody had an experince like this? should i call her monday?

ok - just so i dont leave you all hanging ... recruiter emailed me exactly two weeks after that email about scheduling.. flew down to interview the very next day... got job offer immediately after interview. moral of the story - stay cool, dont freak... and read in to a couple weeks of silence... good luck to all out there looking. hope this helps.

I've been in a similar situation, good to hear that it all
worked out! I've been sending my resume out to the Big 4,
now that i've have passed all the CPA exams. How long does
it usually take before you hear from them? Btw if you're
interested in referring someone. I come highly recommended
:)
