OK, here's the deal.....my original plan was to take REG, FAR, and BEC in 2010, and AUD in Jan 2011 as I figured that the actual material covered would not change drastically.   I am not nervous about the change in the structure, but the change in the material tested.  I would REALLY prefer to not have to buy 2011 materials just to take AUD in Jan of 2011.  Do you think that current AUD Becker materials would be sufficient?  I won't be able to request new 2011 materials by then because of an expired license.

I guess I could technically take all 4 this year, but I am not sure I would have sufficient time to study to pass all 4 parts by the end of 2010, especially as I am already working full time as a staff accountant with a CPA firm.

I'm taking REG in 2011. I understood that this section will have no changes at all as in regards to material. Only structure changes.

Do you mean REG (the section you are taking) is the one you understand will have no changes in material, or AUD?

New Content and Skill Specification Outlines will allow for testing on new material such as:

    • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

    • Corporate Governance

    • Project Management

    • Multi-Jurisdictional Tax issues and

    • Financial Instruments will be tested for the first time.

    • Ethics, as it pertains to tax returns, legislation, and industry-driven ethics remains in the Regulation (REG) exam.

    • New Professional Responsibilities section in AUD will focus on ethics and independence for AUD-related items, such as audits, reviews, compilations, compliance, etc. This amounts to a doubling of the Ethics coverage on the CPA Exam.

    • After a seven year hiatus, the personal financial statement and tax exempt entities will be back on the exam.

    • REG will not have IFRS testing in 2011 so it will change the least in terms of content. It's structure will change: simulations will double, MCQs reduced by 10% and written communications will become extinct.

The Auditing section will also include questions on International Auditing Standards.
