Question: if I buy Yaeger's FAR home study materials in late summer 2011, but don't take the exam until Jan. 2012, will I be faced with a problem of possibly having questions on a 2012 exam that were not covered in the 2011 materials I bought? What kind of risk am I looking at? Any suggestions how to remedy this? Do they offer some sort of supplemental materials? Maybe these are not even available in the first month of the next year?

There shouldn't be that many changes. Phil will post updates on their site if there is any significant updates that you need to be aware of.
But I know the feeling. I bought the 2009 FAR HomeStudy course in the end of Dec 2009 only to find out that the 2010 materials came out just a few weeks later.

I'm sorry to pop in, but I feel I must clarify this statement. In December of 2009 we would NOT have sold any 2009 products. It would have been the 2010 courses. There were mid year updates in 2010, that our current students all had access to at that time. Hope this avoids any misunderstandings later.

Team Yaeger,
There's no need to get so defensive over this. In fact, I highly support your review courses because they work. And yes, I was sold 2009 courses in Dec 2009 because I did purchase them through your website at the time. And it's impossible to have your Yaeger 2010 courses ready by Dec 2009 because the Wiley 2010 books just came out. There's no way you can slap together hundreds of hours of lectures for all 4 parts in that short of a time period. So, it's perfectly fine that you sold them because 2010 materials were not ready yet.
I don't take this against you, please do not take my posts that way. It was my fault for buying them without thinking, not yours. I don't blame you in any way. And there were barely any differences between the 2009 and 2010 materials, so I didn't make a big thing about it. And the few minor changes that I needed to be aware of, Phil posted updates on them. So, it's all good!
Just an FYI....I really support Yaeger, but I'm highly disappointed that whenever I make a little comment, a Yaeger staff feels the need to post in his defense. I should have a right to make a comment here and there. It's not like I'm saying "I hate Yaeger. Don't buy them." I've done nothing but highly praise the course. No review course is 100% perfect, so just because I don't say "Yaeger is 100% perfect," it doesn't mean I'm bashing it in any way. I'm sorry if I gave that impression.
But if it makes you feel better, then going forward, I won't make any comments (good or bad) about the review course. I don't want the Yaeger team getting mad at me because I'll still be ordering from them when I'm ready to take REG and BEC.
Good day!

I'm so sorry, CPA #1. You are correct. From 2009 to 2010 there were not major changes and so one could use 2009 to prep for 2010 REG exam. Every year we try to get the new material out mid- to end of December.
I was getting mixed up with 2010 to 2011. That was a unique situation. Since there were so many changes in 2011, the AICPA got the new Content Spec changes out to the review providers extra early, so they were able to get their products out in October.
My error. Please accept my apologies. I'll refrain from "popping" in on the forum.
