I have an offer from a Big 4 firm for an advisory role.  I do not know how to negotiate the salary offered as I feel it is a little low.  I have worked for a year in a Big 4 as an external auditor, and have had an internship from a big internal audit consulting firm.  I am currently doing my Masters in Accounting and will graduate in Fall 09.  I feel I was offered entry level salary and I do not think I am entry level - what do you guys think.

$48k is the salary and I am not sure what level I will be in given my experience in external and internal auditing.  I just know that I will be known as BRS staff. (business risk services). I have no idea what external auditors are being paid.  I forgot to mention that I am applying for an internal audit (BRS) position.

Hi ninimoi

You said that you had worked as an external auditor for one year at a Big 4..How much were they paying you

generally, the offer letter would say if you are getting hired as a Level 1 or Level 2 staff level...48 k seems a little low in either case especially if you are working in Internal audit...there will be a lot of work and may include upto 75% of travel..you want to make sure you are taken care of or else you might get frustrated.....are both the companies giving you a same offer....maybe you could negotiate with one of them since you would have a backup option...

Also what city is the offer in,,,i dont think that counts for much as you might be all over the country or maybe even the world...make sure you know what you are getting into...

Good luck
