Interesting article, along with the 2009 Trends... that is linked from it. An
increase in enrollment and graduates coupled with a decrease in hiring is
not good. There's no question things are rough for a lot of people, but I
think accounting graduates have better prospects than many others.
Story: Back in the spring of this year, I was finishing up my M.Acc.
program and took an elective from the real estate department dealing
with mortgage backed securities (interesting topic given all that was
going on). Anyway, one day the professor surveyed the class as to how
many people had job offers and only a couple raised their hands (out of
around 50). These are students who are MS Finance, MS Real Estate,
some MBAs and a couple oddball accounting students.

You want to have some real fun? Go to the liberal arts department of virtually any college and ask them point blank how many of their students find jobs within six months of graduating.

HAHA have you done that? I went to the career development center and they wouldn't allow walkins. So I Dont know the answer only from what the Business Career Center told me.

I recently read an article that claimed that only 25% of college graduates were finding jobs within six months of graduation. Upon a closer reading, however, I realized the article was referring to the job-finding rate of liberal arts majors. I was wondering if anyone has come across an article or some information about a general job-finding rate amoing college students, or better yet among business majors, or even better yet among accounting majors?
