IRS pubs are a great way to learn the basics. If I m not wrong look at Pub 17. Also, get hold of a college textbook from your local library.

Hope it helps.

www.irs.gov is the official website for the Internal Revenue Service.

Here's the 2008 complete list of Tax Forms [and instructions ->> very, very useful] and Publications in a user-friendly menu format:

http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/article/0,,id=209563,00.html

Once you find a useful form or publication, go here to see if the IRS has published an updated version for 2009:

jrupa,

Are you even a CPA Candidate yet? I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, of us were required to take at least one U.S. Federal Taxation course in college.

Filing status is whether you are filing as Single, Married, Married Filing Separately, Dependent, or Head of Household.

Personal exemptions are amounts that you can reduce your taxable income base by. These are based partly on your filing status.

If you owe taxes to the United States, filing your tax return is a great way to learn about our tax system and also to contribute your fair share.
