Hey,

I'm writing REG in October and want to ask those who've written it what parts
of the material did the exam focus on?

A friend of mine told me it focused heavily on penalties.

There are some penalties that you have to know but the exam does not focus heavily on any particular topic.  You should know that the penalty on early withdrawal of savings is the only penalty thats deductible.  Tax penalties for filing and paying late, federal or state, are not deductible.

There are some questions, but i didn't think it was heavily tested. Both times taken it, I rarely saw it. The
exam is hit or miss on these subjects, one might get alot
and one might get none. Just go through it and take the
MC's and you should be fine. Besides, most of them are
common sense questions and its not that hard to figure it
out and by guessing you should be fine. Good Luck!
