With the new exam changes just being a few weeks old, I was
curious how heavily Planning, Budgeting, Cost Management
was being tested now (Becker ch.5).
In my opinion, this is the most calculation-heavy portion
of the study material and am concerned about spending too
much time focusing on it in my review. I've heard that
variance analysis was a big topic in '10, but wanted to get
a feel for the '11 testing experience.
Have my BEC test this weekend, and am going nuts trying to
spend my remaining study hours. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. I have my exam coming up on Tuesday and am
debating whether I should tackle the 140 questions for Budget Analysis.
The production schedules (cash, raw materials etc) as opposed to the
variances are considered ancillary materials yet there are at least 100
questions in the software devoted to them! and ther all calculation-intensive
and in depth.
I decided I would simply prepare for variance analysis and skim through the
ancillary just to get a good sense of the production schedules should a
question come up. So ill be skipping about 90+ questions. Ill trust Becker on
this one though it could backfire!

I think it is a good idea to read through the ancillary material too because there is no point in taking chances while preparing for the exam.

And also how was the written communication part? This is my 1st exam ever.
Thanks in advance.
