I was just wondering how much time everyone was budgeting themselves once they go into SIM #1??

In the past I've gone into exam & the 1st thing I do is write on the paper (for a 4hr exam)

Testlet #1: 3hrs. 10 min

Testlet #2: 2hrs. 20min.

Testlet #3: 1hr. 30min.

SIM #1: 50min.

Time management is definitely hard for me - not to mention the ordeal of wondering if a question is worth spending the extra minute or 2 to really figure it out if I become stumped.

ANyway - I guess I'm just wondering if you all think 1.5 hrs. is enough time to leave for both SIMS? My 1st test I probably had more than 1.5 left... I know that the SIMS are definitely my weakness, and BOTH times I've taken FAR they've always seemed out of left field. (so I'm sure part of my problem w/ them is the overwhelming feeling I get w/ all the info. they throw at you)

My question is - Is it worth "rushing" through MCQ so that I can have more than 1.5hrs left for SIMS?

during the exam, I had 1st MCQ- 30 min ( more than enough); 2nd -50 min; 3rd- 60 min ( was trying at the end to figure out 1 MCQ that I could not get the answer they had).

1 hr 40 min for simulations - was good - I was able to do everything ( does not mean I did it right :)) except research tab for the 2nd one - not time problem, just could not find what they asked to do.

Same situation here as 1tryCPA. I went 30, 50, 55-60, then I had 1 hr 40 for the simulations.  I finished up the second simulation with about 7 minutes left, found a mistake I made, corrected it, triple checked my written, and made sure I had the research point as well.

More than enough time for the simulations

Wow Canadian - and even time to spare!! I guess I just really suck at these, considering both times I had around that much time left myself and still couldn't complete the SIMS in time.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate..I guess I continue w/ my strategy, and if possible try to leave more time for SIMS

I would just make sure to budget less time for the first testlet, as you will likely need more for testlet two and three.
