I have taken FAR in 2010 (failed), and I just wanted to ask some of you who have taken FAR already in 2011... are the simulations as in-depth or time consuming as the 2 simulations on the 2010 exam? My main worry is about the time constraint it will take me to get through 7 simulations as opposed to the 2 simulation format I saw before. I am scheduled to take this on 2/28/11 and it is officially crunch time!

good question.
well the nice thing about the 2011 update is that with 7
tabs you can skip within the entire 7 tab SIM...whereas
with the 2010 you had to finish the 1st
SIM before you could move on to the 2nd

Judging by what I heard, no. They are like 7 Tabs of old sim. For example, the research section counts as 1 Sim. Not the whole 4 Tabs+ Research + essay = One Sim old package.
Plus, IIRC, there is no essay either (only in BEC now I think...)

I didn't take the exam in 2010, but I had practice Sims
in my review course from 2010 and I can tell you the 7
sims are NOTHING compared to the old sims as far as
content goes. I would say each sim probably has maybe
about 4-5 JE's that may need to be done, or 5 "fill in
the blank" type questions. If you look at the end of a
chapter in an intermediate accounting textbook and look
at one of problems- that may be it. I would say 15 mins
per sim TOPS. I think I spent about 5 minutes on most of
mine, and 1 was a little longer because I had to research
how something was treated since I wasn't sure.
They are 7 separate problems with maybe 3 tabs at the top
of each question...1 for the problem, 1 for the research
tab, and another may have some supplemental information.
when you are done with one question you click "next" to
go onto the next one. So it's not 1 big problem with 7
separate tabs...if that makes sense. I'm not even sure if
that's what you were asking! LOL!
Anyways, I wouldn't sweat it. It's just a way for them to
test us on more topics.
