I have always wondered what happens with the following scenerio.

I am a 50+ year old with a CPA license in the state of MA in good standing and decide to move to CT.  Now, I have not practiced public accounting in over 25 years.  I would still like to use CPA after my name in the state of CT and therefore will be applying for reciprocity.  Now, the public accounting firm where I worked for 5 years and gained my experience is long gone as well as the possibility of tracking done any of the partners.  How do I go about proving work experience to the state of CT to get a license and use CPA initials.

tb, did you use your MA CPA license to engage in sole practice for at least five years? If so, the CT Board will accept your sole practice as experience for reciprocity (but you must provide 3 letters of reference from clients or former clients).

The only other thing I can think of is that you might be able to track down your former supervisors using MA's CPA member directories.
