In Delaware after passing the CPA exams, you can apply for license based on your education i.e if applying with 150 hrs/ masters there is a 1 yr requirement, bachelors (2 yrs) or associates (4 yrs).

I am getting ready to apply under the assoc degree and the regulations say "required extensive requirement in preparing f/s under GAAP or under SSARS".

What does the term extensive mean in this regard ? Has anybody applied under this category and if yes, what all did you submit to show the above. The application itself does not ask for any supporting docs.

What if one has been wokring as a tax accountant and has done some annual compilatons in the last 4 yrs. Will that help?

Thanks

Hello Mans22
Recently i passed CPA exams -- but I need help to proceed further.

I am also registered with DE board. FACS gave me 96 credit hrs + 3 credit hrs for Fed taxation (As of now I have total of 99 credit hrs).

Right now I am looking for a job/internship at a CPA firm so that it is counted towards my Licensing (Currently working for a Tax & accounting firm - a non CPA firm).  I have following questions:
1. Validity period for CPA exam Credit?
2. When to write Ethics exam?
3. Can I take more courses to make 120 credit hrs now -- equivalent to Bachelors degree in US - so that I need only 2 years of work experience for certification/licensing?
4. Are license transferable form one state to another? -- say after 4 years I get License from DE board can I transfer it to CA board?
5. Does my work experience under non CPA count towards Licensing?

Really confused :(
I would really appreciate help of any sort.

Thanks

1- For DE, exam results expire after 10 years.
2- Anytime after you passed the CPA exam and before you apply for a license.
3- Don't know
4- Since DE is not a substantially equivalent state, most states will not allow you to transfer your license, you will have to wait till August 1, 2012 when DE becomes a substantially equivalent state.
5- No, it has to be under the supervision of an active CPA
http://dpr.delaware.gov/boards/accountancy/faqs.shtml#Q8

"The experience must be obtained after you have your degree. It must be earned under the supervision of a licensed certified public accountant or a chartered accountant of Canada or Australia."

You don't have to work in a CPA firm, work experience in industry is also recognized.
