Ok here's the deal:-

I passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam under the NJ in 2005, received a congratulatory letter from them dated 01/03/06 for the same.

I moved to NC after that and may have forgotten to give NASBA my new address (I know it's pathetic) so if they sent me anything after that I didn't get it

As of today I have the 1 year work exp in a private company in the Finance dept. under the direct supervision of a CPA.

I called the Licensing office and they say they haven't anything from NASBA yet (I have no clue how these two are different entities) anyway, I call the CPA Compliance number and keep getting a voicemail so I have no clue if my record just vanished or I have any deficiencies.

I know it's pathetic to wait over 3 years to figure this out, I'm just plain old stupid I think :(

Can someone please tell me if they've ever come across anything like this?

Sometimes a State Board will archive records over a year or two old, and may take a while to find them. I know the Calif Board took about one month to find mine in the State archives after I applied for the license 8 years after passing the test. Maybe send the NJ Board a copy of your congradulatory letter, ask them to pull your records, and transfer them to NC (or NASBA, whichever is appropriate).

Thank god there is at least someone who got the license done after so long!

I thought I was the only one. I got married, had a baby, was at home for a while and now that my work exp is complete I thought about getting the license.

But you don't think my record would just vanish or something, do you? I keep having this terrible thought that they will tell me they have no record of me at all ever taking the exam.

I think I'll die if I have to take the parts all over again :(

I think you're ok. It scared me that they might not find my records, but just in case, I had the congradulatory letter. How long ago did you pass? In Calif, exam credits are good for life, but your experience has to be within 1 year of applying if you go beyond 5 years after passing the exam.

I passed in Dec 2005 and received the congratulatory letter in Jan 2006. I just got so tied up with life that it wasn't until recently that I could get the work exp done.

I managed to get in touch with NASBA and it seems that the deficiency on my file is that I'm lacking enough credit for the Management/Cost Accountancy topic. I now to take a class on that :(

Your case is like a dream come true, to get your license 8 years after passing the exam is truly something. I fear I'm not that lucky, the fact that I'm doing this after almost 3 years has me absolutely terrified!

I think the scores in NJ are good for life too but I'm not sure about the work ex being completed within 1 year of applying if you've gone beyond 5 years.....
