Is this a trend or just a coincidence?

I know this has been the largest number of tests taken in
any window. It would be great if we knew the methodology
AICPA uses to score these tests.

Keep in mind that the chart that you provided does not directly give you the percentages for the 4th quarter, it gives you data for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and "cumulative." So if you used a little bit of algebra you could figure out the data for the 4th quarter, but it looks like it would be a bit higher than the first 3 quarters.

As to the grading of the tests, it looks like while it's not "curved," they weight the question values enough to get the passing percentages that they want. It's not a perfect science, which is why it's not exactly 49% or 50% at any given window.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what math you need to do, when the pdf file states clearly that Q4 passing rates are:

               Q3        Q4

AUD       49.4%    44.9%

BEC       50.8       44.3

FAR       52.7       45.0

REG       54.0       47.3

What gives?

OP, it was always the case that Q4 passing rates were lower compared to Q3 rates (at least, during the last 4 yrs).

No, he edited the link.  The link that was up originally only had the results of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarter and cumulative, and the 4th was absent.  Hence when I was saying that you wouldn't be able to know the 4th quarter unless you used Algebra.
