Hi,

I passed all four parts recently through Michigan state
board. I didn't bother about the licence requirements
while taking exams. Now I learned that Mi state requires
one year exp in public accounting for the licence and I
don't have any exp in public acct.

I have done my bachelors of commerce (3 years course) and
chartered accountancy(from ICAI) in India. I plan to
transfer my scores to another state board but not sure
which state to apply for.

I guess Colorado state requires 150 hrs credit under 2.5
rule, education in lieu of experience. My question is,
will I fetch 150 credits with my education? If not, can I
do some online courses to earn those extra credits and
then apply for the licence?

Any guidance is highly appreciated...very confused:-(

Most tier one states will need one year of experience under a CPA for a license so decide which state you want to work or practice and look up the requirements.

Hope this helps.

Hi Vdesi...thanks for the response...actually I have no
plans to practice..I just want to mention the CPA word
after my name in my resume.

If I earn 150 credits with my education, I can still apply
for CO licence without work exp under 2.5 rule right?

BTW, what is tier one state? The more I read about the
requirements, the more I am getting confused..

Thanks!!

Hello jsn123,

For Colorado they have a pre-evaluation for your education credentials so you can send in your transcripts to them and get an answer if you are elegible for license.

If you have 150 credits you will be elegible for the waiver of the 1year work experience, but the credits need to be in the subjects the CO Board has specified.

The better way would be to send in a pre-evaluation so that you know if you will be elegible as otherwise you do not want your Application to be rejected as whenever you files with any other State they will ask you if any other State has rejected your application and why.

Hope this helps.
