Does someone know the application process for a self-employed CPA candidate. I have passed the CPA Exam in Ohio and anytime that I call the Ohio board of Accountancy I get a different response.
Is there anyone here who got thier license thru self-employement.
thx

"Self-employment experience also qualifies if it is properly verified." You just need to get an Ohio CPA to verify your experience.
If you know an Ohio CPA, contact him/her and offer to show your time records for the last two years (or whatever amount of time you need) in exchange for him/her verifying your experience.
At the bottom of that page there are links to two forms. You must fill out each form. The Record of Experience form is to show you had the proper amount of experience (I'd just write "self-employed" in the name of employer and signature of employer lines. They will see that the other form is attached). The Statement of Verifying CPA form is because your supervisor is not a CPA (since you didn't have a supervisor).
Give that a try. The worst the board can do is deny your application. They will tell you why it is denied too so you can fix it. If you don't know an Ohio CPA, try and meet one.
