Hi everybody. I have recently joined this forum and I plan to sit for the CPA exams sometime in H2 2009.

I am an Indian working in Muscat, Oman and I just wanted info for my profile (which I term as a mixed case) as far as the process to judge eligibility for the CPA exam is considered and subsequent licensing is concerned.

I hold a B.Com degree from University of Mumbai and the ACCA (UK) and CMA (US) professional qualifications.

1) What will be my best options as regards state to select so that I can even obtain a license after passing the exams?

2) Does the Mumbai University and/or specifically the college (H.R. College, Mumbai in my case) directly send in transcripts and courses taken to the various evaluation agencies?

3) If Yes then how do I go about requesting these from them?

Thanks.

Your easiest and best option would be to use the ACCA membership certificate and apply either to the State of Colorado or Georgia.

They will allow you to forego (bypass) the credential evaluation and submit a copy of your ACCA membership certifcation along with the completed application form and associated payments, at least, that's what I did for Colorado State when I applied to sit for the CPA exam in 2007.

Thank you Romain.

After completing the exams do i get the CPA certificate or do the states have any changed requirements for the same.

I recall reading regarding Colorado changing their requirements whereby you have to show work experience within an approved CPA firm to obtain your certificate - so passing exams does not automatically entitle you to use the title CPA.
