I was enrolled in the Becker Review Course during 2008 – 2009 and have been having success with all sections until just recently with Regulation. My process has been consistent across all sections: attended all classes, reviewing all materials, completing all multiple choice and supplement questions (taking notes on those questions I scored incorrectly the first time), completing four Simulated Exams (recycled practice questions) and finally completing two Final Exams in their entirety.

My score on the exam was 68%. Other than feeling totally demoralizing and frustrated, can anyone suggest how I would begin preparing for my reexamination in late May? I am having a very difficult time getting motivated and deciding on where to even start. I have already ordered the Becker CPA Final Review materials for Regulation.

Any, ANY, help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks.

Dirtdog73 read another73 blog and other journeys, you can prepare until you are stupid sometimes and still fail.  Several reason, they can test you in a particular window where your weakness is more exposed and in another window where your strenghts are.  its likely you have some weak areas identify them, get a good cram and retake.  Don't take it personal, there is nothing personal about this exam,  Fair game.

Thanks Insightful. I guess I will just re-read all of Becker and begin working questions again.

Best of luck with your exams!

You might want to try another preparation course (gleim mcqs?). I am using Becker myself (the regular course & flashcards, not the final review). But I have read several places on this forum that Becker alone isn't enough. Some people have also used either gleim or wiley. I am not promoting anything, but I have seen so many people fail with Becker alone that I am tempted to buy supplemental material for an increased shot at passing the REG on first attempt.

I failed Regulation twice before I passed with a 79. I used Wiley with some Becker. Wiley I think really helped me personally. Awaiting BEC but I studied my a$$ off on the MCQ's and it seemed to give me the passing points. Previous attempts (72 and 74) I passed the SIMS and W/C part, but didnt do well enough on the MCQ's. I feel like all the MQC's with Wiley gave me the extra points. I used the software and the book. Studying for Audit right now as well with Wiley, seems like it is really helping me grasp material..

Also after reading everyone's post, it seems like Yeager Cram might be another option. If I didn't pass BEC, that is my next study attempt.
