Being a CPA needs a lot of efforts, including  sacrifice of our time and money. I was wondering if it's really worth it at the end? Once we get a CPA designation, does that mean we will worth more ( e.g get higher pay) than before , and would the benefits outweigh the efforts?

Short answer? Yes. You might want to check out this recent post on Re: The Auditors for a more detailed answer.

That being said, you identified the obstacles that stand in most candidates' way (money, effort, time, etc) and if your heart isn't really in it, it will be a more difficult uphill battle for you personally than it already is.

Should you do it? Only you can answer that. If you do it will you earn more, be more "hire-able" or desirable to employers and have more mobility in your career? Absolutely.

Let's see here.

n=40

i = 12%

PV = ?

FV = $720,000

PV = FV/(1+i)^40

PV = 720,000/(1.12)^40

PV = 720,000/93.051

PV = $7,737.69

I couldn't resist...LOL

Time value of money is so hard for me and I don't understand why. Can someone check my answer please?   :)
