Im just wondering if anyone else has gone through the same experience as I am about to.  I have been out of college for 2 years.   Since I last studied for the CPA exam or anything with accounting.  The reason being I was working as a Systems Engineer and was given a pretty hefty raise that I couldnt turn down.  I still work there and make great money but as I get older I am ready for the next challenge in my life.  I want to try Accounting and the CPA exam.

I was wondering if anyone picked up with some exam materials like Becker and just studied for the CPA?  Was this enough of a refresher for you to pass the exam and or remember what you have forgotten?

I am also doing this to help refresh my memory for when I start my Masters Degree in Accounting within a year.

Thanks for any info or advice

I graduated in 2003, did some half hearted attempts at the CPA exam during 2006, and began to get serious about the exam last summer.  I used Becker only and passed.  If it helps, I was once told not to even bother, being that I've been out of school for so long, but it can be done!

I graduated with my accounting degree in 1980.

I joined the Air Force and spent a career there flying airplanes and doing everything else but accounting.

I'm taking the CPA exams for the first time now.

If I were you, I would find someone who works in accounting and shadow them. I would hate for you to go through all that torture called the CPA Exam and then hate accounting. It's one of those professions you either love or hate. Many people have a love/hate relationship with accounting. So, be sure you want to do this before you spend your money and waste about 600 hours of your life that you won't get back studying.
