Hello,
    I am an international student residing in CA.
    I recently get my credential evaluation done and got
151 undergrad credit and 30 grad credit.It seems I am
eligible for CPA in CA or rather any state in US.I am
not going to stay in CA for long(1~2 years at most).
   My dilemma is which state should I choose to get best
portable CPA license in US ?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Pathway 2

If you are licensed under this pathway, the majority of other states will recognize your license. If you think that someday you might want to practice in another state, Pathway 2 may provide you the professional mobility you desire.
Requirements:

  •  A bachelor’s degree;
  • 24 semester units in accounting-related subjects;
  • 24 semester units in business-related subjects;
  • 150 semester units (or 225 quarter units) of education;
  • Passing the Uniform CPA Exam;
  • One year of general accounting experience supervised by a CPA with an active license; and
  • Passing an ethics course.

I'm using Alabama, but I chose it because it is a two-tier state (I can get a certificate before I finish work experience) and the woman in charge of it is really knowlegable and easy to reach by phone or e-mail.  This was a major improvement over my home state of Florida.  The downsides are that I think they require two years of experience and they release scores very late, first wave is after the window closes and second is a month later.  I haven't heard anything about an ethics requirement, but I like getting having a certifcate even if I don't keep up with CPE credits, since I plan to live abroad.  You would need to see if you meet their requirements for specific classes.  You can read the info online or just e-mail your transcript to Anna Baker.
