Hi all,

So I graduated this past May (2009) with a degree in finance and most of the
accounting curriculum finished. All I need to sit for the exam is auditing
theory, advanced accounting, and intermediate theory 2 (currently taking). I'm
also working full-time as a QA analyst at a financial software company. I'm
giong part-time for my master's in accounting. The job isn't that hard at all
and I can sneak in some studying (and homework) during the day, so I'm not
really exhausted.

Well, I'm taking Intermediate 2 right now (just finished pensions) and will
finish that in about 3 weeks. I've tried to study for the class like I'm
studying for the CPA exam. Next semester I'm taking auditing and advanced,
along with I think international accounting or something (probably a joke). I'm
concerned on when to take the CPA exam next year - I don't want to
underestimate it.

I was originally thinking that I should study for FAR the whole semester and
take it in July and then maybe BEC in August if I feel very prepared. The fall
semester I can take advanced auditing (august - december) and then take AUD
right after that. I'd take REG around that time.

So:
FAR - July 2010
BEC - August 2010 - November 2010
AUD - January 2011 - February 2011
REG - January 2011 - July 2011 (?)

I'd appreciate any advice and insight.

Thanks.

I forgot to add, but I'm pretty sure I'll use Yaeger
HomeStudy.

You're timing looks good. I like the idea of you taking FAR first. That one is a monster, and getting it over with is a good idea. Also, after taking FAR first, the volume of materials in the other topics like AUD and BEC will seem more manageable. Along the same lines, FAR and AUD overlap a little. Since the volume of material in FAR is crazy, in that sense, I would say take AUD first this in turn my help make the volume of FAR lighten up a bit. At the end of the day, you have to decide what you're good in and take that exam first.

More importantly, 1 thing I would like to point out is some states require you to pass all exams in 12 months and some say 18 months. What does your state say? If your state is a 12 month state, then I'd say you need to speed up the test taking and leave some time to allow you to retake a test just in case if that is needed. If your state is 18 months, then you're good. Good luck!!
