I was wondering if we could start a general thread
discussing the best Macc programs by region, especially
since accounting usually tends to hire within its
regions. Since I know the PNW better than any other
region, I'll start off with that (as best as I can
anyway), but if we can create a thread with the following
format, that would be great/useful imo:

Region: Pacific Northwest
Key Cities: Seattle, Portland, maybe Bay Area/San
Jose/Sacramento
1. University of Washington
2. University of Oregon
3. Oregon State University/Washington State
4. Portland State or some small Seattle School?
5. (no clue)

Also, if anyone can tell me some good programs if you
are aiming for the Bay Area, and post the rankings for
the North East area, that would be great because those
are the areas I'm looking at.

Wharton is ranked #1 for accounting in the U.S.  They don't have a Macc, but they do offer an MBA with an emphasis in accounting.

2. Brigham Young

3. University of Illinois

Click the link for the additional best Macc programs in the northeast.  However, you don't have to go to a top accounting program just as long as a decent numberof companies recruit on campus.  It's not like getting an MBA where there can be a huge difference in the compnaies that recruit from 1st tier and 2nd tier schools.  In accounting, the chances are good that the companies who recruit from 1st tier schools also recruit from 2nd tier ones as well.  I'm at undergrad student at WSU (I'm doing the program online) and I know that the Big 4 hire interns and entry level employees from WSU.

So now Big 4 recruiting determines which schools we should go to.  LOL.
