I am almost done with the CPA exam but I don't have any accounting experience to get certified. I changed careers and switched to accounting and have more than 12 years experience doing something else. I have a hard time landing a job even though I have a 3.85 GPA. Any suggestion is welcomed.

What routes have you tried? Where is your resume posted?

Well, I went thru the school recruiting but that did not work out because I am in mid 30s and don't fit the profile, being in mid to low 20s. I have a high GPA, 3.85.
This week I had an interview with two partners at a medium size public accounting firm. Currently there are no openings, but after the interview the partners were pleased. Therefore, we'll see. I am just applying everywhere, mainly in the private sector right now.

I am in a similar position. After 9 years in banking, I went back to school for the additional accounting hours. But, I have been unable to find a position in accounting. I decided to go ahead and take the CPA exam in hopes that would lead to a public accounting job. Keeping my fingers crossed!
