I'm an undergraduate senior planning to sit for the CPA in the July/Aug window for NY state. Or at least, that was my hope. Now I'm not sure if it's possible. But different people are telling me different things!!
My situation: I'll have well over 150 by the time I graduate in May. BUT, I'm taking Advanced Accounting and Auditing during summer session I at my university, which ends June 24th. Thus, I won't have 33 credits by the time I graduate (more importantly, I won't have credit for Auditing until about a month after graduation).
Becker people told me I wouldn't be able to even APPLY to take the exam until I've gotten credit for auditing. But the NYS application has a line that says "Include the total number of semester hours in accounting you have earned (or expect to earn)." An accounting professor of mine that coordinates CPA stuff at my uni said that in her experience, NY state usually lets you apply before you have completed all of the required coursework.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Can anyone tell me if I can at least apply to sit for the exam without having taken auditing? Additionally, if I had to apply AFTER June 24th, there's no way I'd be able to make it for the July/Aug window correct?
Ahhhh I'm so stressed out. T_____T Thank you in advance.
