The title basically says it. I'm wondering, since my ECs suck, if I should cut my losses and just focus on getting internships, a high GPA (3.6+ minimum), and a high GMAT (720+) all while networking and getting good recommendations. While I won't completely cut myself off, I don't think the whole getting a leadership position or anything like that will work out, so I'll mostly be a participant. So can I still make it into UT-Austin or something, especially if I get my numbers high and get good recs?

I assume he is referring to Extra Circullars. Based on my limited knowledge of Maccs, I think the answer to the question is no. I believe ECs are far more important in MBA admissions. However, some schools can be different.

|
ECs generally refer to "extra curricular activities". This
can range from volunteer work, club positions, etc.
Normally, it would include work experience and internships,
but for business stuff, they usually separate the two.
