I will be graduating in May and hope to start a MACC program next year. My current GPA is 3.85 and I just recently took the GMAT and scored a 630. The school that I am hoping to attend accepts MACC students during the fall and spring semesters.

My main reason for doing a MACC is because my undergrad school is a small school in a rural area and has very little accounting recruiting happening. Would it be better for me to start in the fall and go through recruiting season or start in the spring and have some classes done before the fall recruiting season starts?

Was your undergrad in accounting? If yes, I don't see why it would make much difference if you start in the fall or spring. The only thing with starting in the spring is that if the program only took you one year and you received an offer from a firm for the following fall after recruiting season, you could have a while before starting the job. In other words, if you graduate in December 2011 and the position doesn't start until fall 2012.

Thanks Kfan. My undergrad is in accounting so I guess I will apply for fall acceptance which was what I wanted to do anyways. I just didn't know if there was any kind of advantage to having part of your MAcc done when it came to internships.

Thanks again

I doubt it. You're starting from scratch as an intern anyway-there's quite a gap between real world accounting and what you learn in the classroom.
