Here is my dilemma

I am already admitted to the MAcc program and once I complete the pre-reqs I will be a official graduate student. Oakland University is a AACSB Certified Accounting program and all the Big 4 recruit there. It is nice because it is a smaller school and all the profs and MAcc administration know most of the students by name and would do anything to help a student; such as make a phone call to contacts in the area.

vs.

Michigan State University which has a Top 8 MS program and are a "priority" school for the Big 4. They also have a more robust 'track' than oakland for IS, Tax, Managerial, and FRAS. However, I do live 1.5 hrs away and the commute would be brutal. Not to mention getting an application put together by March 1st in order to take part in fall recruiting.

Note: I want to get into transfer pricing or tax. I am a MSU alumnus.

Should I switch to MSU or stay at O.U.??

IMHO it's not worth it to attend a top-tier school if it's going to be difficult
based on where you live. If I lived near U of Texas, I'd go there, but thank
goodness I don't.

Don't dismiss smaller programs. I did tax so I only had two choices - a top
school (not top 8) that was 90 m away or a good school that was 45 min
away. Within the MSAT program, tax was maybe 40 people,
Assurance/financial was the rest, about 250. It was great - I knew all my
profs, they knew me, I knew which students slacked and which ones to get in
my study groups.
