Hello folks.
In considering my options in a rough economy in an area without the kind
of jobs I want/am qualified for, I'm considering a MAcc. Unfortunately,
well, it's late January. I've never taken the GMAT/GRE or done any
studying for it.
Almost all the programs I've seen start in either May or August, and have
application deadlines of early March. Have I just picked the worst possible
time to look into this? Is it at all possible to do anything but sit on my
hands, probably still unemployed, until NEXT May or August before I can
get in?
Alternately, are there any online MAcc programs that prospective
employees won't roll their eyes at?

Well, for those in NY, NYU's deadline final deadline is March 15, Baruch's is May 31 and Fordham is June 1 for FALL 2011. I'm planning to do the GMAT in April and aiming for the 700's but I will be applying to Baruch only based on economics and reputation.
If your in the NY area and you dont have enough money (or you're reluctant to take on loans) to pay for a private school tuition, I would highly recommend Baruch - Cuny. It's affordable (esp for NY residents), nationally ranked plus all the major accounting and investment firms actively recruit there.

Stetson University, fully accredited, offers an online MAcc with various starts dates throughout the year. Check them out.

No. Early March would be worse.

You can study for all of February, take the GMAT (You get the results the same day), and apply in March within the deadline.

I don't think other future employees look at your resume. Most likely it would be an HR person who screens and selects the resume for predetermined criteria.

Derp. XD Sorry, I meant "future employers."
I'm just not certain that I want to pay $250 for the privilege of taking the test
when I don't have an incredibly long time to study for it.
Thanks for the help so far, guys.
