I am looking to appear for CPA exam in US but stuck with
couple of questions regarding credit hours and state
selection. Following are my educational and work exp
details :
a. I am in US on H-4 Visa
b. I have done a B.com (3 yrs) and M.B.A (2 yrs) from
India
c. I have worked with one of the big 4 in India for 2 yrs
on US individual taxation
Now my questions are :
a. Would B.com + M.B.A count meet the 150 hour
requirement?
b. Are there any states that you would recommend where i
would qualify ?
Colorado i am ineligible as i do not have SSN.
I was looking at New Hampshire and it seemed i would meet
their requirements. But would anybody have some other
advice? Could anybody provide some guidance on Indiana ?

Hi Deeps16shah,
I am also on H4 Visa (no ssn) and have passed cpa exams. I
applied and appeared through Colorado Board in july 2010.
my experience says that ssn is not required for eligibility
to sit for cpa exams. While applying before two years i
was facing the same problem but ultimately it was approved.
I would suggest you to contact CO board and then submit
application. I think your education would fit in Colorado
probably.
Hi Deeps16shah, you would not be a Colorado exam candidate unless you
have taken an auditing course that covers North American GAAS. There are
other states that would accept you without your having to take extra
