Someone please tell me if my estimations are ballpark/on target.  I'm starting in audit in a few weeks.  Thanks.

BIG 4 AUDITING
Months of the year / Expected Hours I'll be working
2008-2009

September through end of November: 8AM to 7PM
December to March (the so-called 'busy'): 8AM to 10 or 11PM
April through June: 8AM to 8PMish
July and August: 8AM to 7PM
end of August, 2009 - receive performance reviews and physically witness all the people leaving/counseled out (hopefully not me)

Sept 2009-2010:  Repeat Cycle

PS - If I have a sports club I'm a member of that meets on Tuesday nights at 7PM, do you think I will be able to attend?  I understand if not. Please Be Honest on this even if you think big4 sucks.  Thanks. Tongue

That's good to hear.  What's the real deal? Obviously, it varies a lot depending on the engagement assignments, but would this schedule fit an auditor assigned to average engagement teams (i.e. some good & some bad)?  I may have been crazy in my estimates as I think most people take some vacations during the summer.

your summer hours seems off. i hear during the off season its more like a normal job 9-5. unless you are on clients with june 30 year end. and if you are unassigned your hours are more likely to be 9-4.

what state you are in?? well depends on the city,  industry, and a client. In real life we work more but the hours distributed differently.
