So I'm just trying to get an idea of what the other big 4 firms are doing this year about raises. Our performance evals go over the summer, at which time we normally receive raises. However we've received firmwide confirmation that there will be zero raises this year, unless it's a promotion year. Additionally, they decided that they would change the evaluation system to eliminate the "Exceeds Expectations" group leaving 3 possible ratings. Below Expectation, Meets Expectation, or Exceptional. I believe they have done this to rationalize not giving raises to those who in the past would have been classified as Exceed Expectations, by essentially downgrading them. If your wondering which firm this it starts with a P and ends with a C. Anyone from other firms comment?

Yes and are they also instituting a pay freeze? I know plenty of smaller firms who are still giving some form of raises despite the economic conditions.
